Information for guests yet to travel

Due to the escalation with the Covid-19 pandemic, the FCO is now advising against all non-essential travel worldwide. We are proactively contacting all our guests currently on holiday or to do depart within this period, to advise them of their options.

If the advice for Portugal changes to ‘advise against travel’ or ‘advise against non-essential travel’ within 28 days of your departure then we will contact you to discuss your options. Your first point of call with be your insurer.

Prior to the 28-day window, our standard booking conditions and cancellation terms will apply. The situation is changing rapidly and it would be impossible to know now the situation on holidays booked for July and August for example

If you have specific reasons for not wishing to travel when there are no FCO restrictions in place we ask you to contact your travel insurers for information about cover.

Questions & Answers

For now, we can answer the following questions:

Q. What can i do in case my holiday is affected?

A: The key message is to make sure you have travel insurance in place as soon as you book. If you have booked already and don’t have travel insurance get it now. If your holiday becomes affected your first point of call will be your insurer.

If the advice changes to ‘advise against travel’ or ‘advise against non essential travel’ to Portugal and you are departing within 28 days then we will get in touch and advise you of the options open to you. The first point of call is to check with your insurer. We will support your claim with a cancellation invoice.

If you don’t have insurance then we will treat each situation on a case by case basis.

Q: Can I cancel my holiday if Portugal is not included in the ‘advise against travel’ or ‘advise against all but essential travel’ categories.

A: You can cancel your holiday if you don’t wish to travel but our standard terms and conditions will apply (found here).

Q: If I am unable to travel, am I entitled to compensation?

A: You won’t be entitled to any compensation, as the reason for the holiday not continuing is outside our control
