Some of the best beaches in Portugal are Silver Coast Beaches. Golden sand beaches stretch for miles and even at the height of Summer there is always a cooling breeze coming from the Atlantic. Silver Coast Portugal beaches never get crowded, even at the popular Baleal beach in August a short walk will take you to an empty area where you can put down your beach umbrella and have peace and quiet in the sun.
Praia d'el Rey Beach
The local Praia Del Rey beach stretches for miles in both directions from the resort and is excellent for sunbathing, walking and surfing. It’s a short walk from most of our properties and there are two parking areas for beach access.
The local beach is patrolled during the peak season and a lifeguard is based at the beach access beneath the Marriott Hotel and Vila da Praia (The Beach Village). Swimmers and surfers not used to the Atlantic surf should observe the Safe and Danger flags.
Baleal beach is a 10-minute drive from the Praia del Rey Golf and Beach Resort and is increasingly becoming the centre of the surf-scene on Portugal’s Silver Coast. There is endless golden sand stretching into the distance. The beach is lifeguarded in peak season and because of the nature of the bay, one stretch of beach will always offer calm conditions ideal for children to paddle. Baleal has numerous relaxed beach bars, cafes and surf schools, and is also life-guarded in peak season.
The huge bay at Peniche and Supertubos is on the other side of the Peniche peninsular. Surfers from all over the world are drawn to these beaches and the fantastic surf they offer.
Supertubos or ‘Super Tubes’
This beach is on the other side of Peniche and is a massive bay with spectacular waves. It’s fifteen to twenty minutes from the Praia Del Rey resort either by the main road or the unmade beach road which also takes in some other excellent surf beaches – depending on the wind and swell.
