Chilled beach bars nestle in golden sand dunes that sweep round the whole bay from Baleal to Peniche. Located on Portugal's Silver Coast, Baleal is a draw for surfers from all round the world who come to experience the best waves on the West Coast. Whether you are a surfer or not your can't help but enjoy the miles of golden sand that stretch for miles in each direction.
Baleal Beach is fast becoming the centre of the surf scene on Portugal’s Silver Coast. Miles of golden sand beach stretch along the coast to Baleal island and then continues in a huge bay round to Peniche. At Baleal relaxed beach bars and surf schools are dotted along the sand dunes overlooking the expanse of beach in front. A causeway allows you to drive over to the ‘island’ although it is very rare that the ocean actually crosses it now. In summer the beach is lifeguarded and there will always be a stretch of beach on one side of the causeway or the other that is calm for paddling.
Getting Here: We can arrange car hire and airport transfers. Find out more information here. You can also get the bus from Lisbon to Peniche and you will need a taxi to get you to Baleal (around a 10 minute drive)
Getting around: You could easily cope without a car during your Baleal holiday. If you want to get to other nearby beaches at Supertubos and Consolocao then you will need a car but all of our properties in Baleal are walking distance to Baleal beach, the supermarket in Baleal, restaurants, bars and cafes. We can arrange car hire and moped hire, contact us for more information.
