The Silver Coast is a beautiful unspoilt stretch of coastline, stretching from Ericeira just north of Lisbon to Figueira da Foz, south of Porto, so called because the Atlantic Ocean turns to silver as the sun sets. The rolling countryside, medieval towns and fishing villages, vineyards and largely deserted stretches of pristine beach all combine to make this a great holiday destination.
The Medieval town of Obidos (UNESCO World Heritage site) is 15 minutes drive from Praia del Rey with many bars and restaurants, local craft and gift shops and a multitude of concerts and festivals throughout the year. Praia Del Rey is at the heart of the Silver Coast location. On the Silver Coast you will enjoy excellent locally-produced wine and great value restaurants; championship golf courses at Praia d’el Rey, Royal Obidos and Bom Sucesso. The Silver Coast is host to the ASP World Surf Championships every year and this is rapidly becoming known as one of the best surf spots in Europe.
