The
International Association of Golf Tour Operators named the Lisbon
Coast as the 2007 'Golf Destination of the Year', ahead of the Algarve,
Andalucia and the other established Continental golfing treasures.The
Lisbon Coast is studded with a cluster of golfing jewels. Bathed
in sunshine for almost 275 days of the year and between 2 and 3 hours
from most European cities, it offers an attractive alternative to
the enlightened golfer. The area may not be as well known as the
Algarve but a growing number of golfers seeking a supreme sporting
challenge that won't break the bank, are enjoying the area before
it gets on the tourist map.

The
Praia Del Rey 18 hole par 72 championship links course was
designed by American architect Cabell B. Robinson, listed
as Portugal's
best course in the 2002/2003 Peugeot Golf Guide and rated 13th
Best Continental Europe golf course by Golf World magazine.
The course is set in extensive grounds of pine forest and
undulating
dunes with spectacular views over the Atlantic. With nine holes
wending through the pine trees and nine hugging the Atlantic
cliffs Praia D’El Rey is a demanding test where the premium
is on accuracy – don’t expect to finish your round
with the ball you started with! With Golden Eagle, Penha Longa
and Oitavos about an hour from Praia D'El Rey this is a great

27 euros a round!
The Praia D'El Rey rates for 2008 are €75.00
a round weekdays and €95.00 at weekends. Through Quo
Vadis Travel Services December to February is €36
and the rest of the year it's €46 a round - except July
11th to 24th when it drops to €35. Weekends and holidays
are the same price. There is a booking fee of €12 per
person - but if you book car hire through them there are no
further
charges. QVTS meet you at the airport with your golf vouchers,
directions and itinerary and take you to your hire car. It's
a brilliant service and you avoid a massive car hire queue

Praia
Del Rey golf on the Atlantic Coast north of Lisbon has miles
of golden sand beaches stretching from Cascais in the south
to Sao Martinho de Porto in the north. For many years the focus
for travel and tourism in Portugal has been on the Algarve
